It is rare for me to like paintings from which a narrative cannot be read at a glance. But I never feel the need to ask of Alle’s paintings, “What’s it about?” They illustrate the point made by Marshall McLuhan in the 60s: “The medium is the message.” What I feel when I look at Alle’s paintings is deep satisfaction. Exquisite colour and indeterminate form draw me into a place I could happily inhabit, or, at least, return to from time to time.

Alle's gifted eye for colour and abstraction has always been welcomed in my home...her paintings have an ephemeral quality which spark the imagination and one of my favourite thoughts when i am heading back home from abroad is that i will relish seeing her art again..
