Drawing and painting from a very young age, Alle Scott studied art at St. George College of TAFE in 1969 and shortly after moved to outback Queensland where she became involved in ‘grass roots’ ceramics through the dedication of the town’s potters and the Flying Art School.
Alle returned to Sydney in 1979 and began a long association with the St. George Studio Potters Group. She completed the Ceramics Certificate at East Sydney Tech (National Art School) in 1982 - upgraded to Associate Diploma in 1990 - and studied 20th Century Art & Visual Culture at Sydney Uni in 1991. Works include wheel thrown functional ware, one-off vessels and ceramic sculpture covering many methods with a strong interest in traditional woodfire aesthetics.
On moving to Byron Bay in 1993 Alle joined the Byron Artisans Collective, crossing into 2D with mixed media works incorporating handmade paper and ceramic pigments. Since 1997 she has concentrated on oil painting on canvas.
Throughout the 80s and 90s Alle taught through TAFE and Adult Community Education and in 2001 she co-founded PAN Professional Artists Network based in Byron Bay.
Alle has exhibited consistently and received awards for ceramics, mixed media and painting. Works are in private collections nationally and in England, Germany, Africa, Pakistan and U.S.A.
